A little update
During the summer, the Parish Council decided to embark on a project to update the Crossroads area in the village. It was felt like areas in the village needed improving and modernising. As the Crossroads is the main thoroughfare through the village, the Council agreed that this would be the most appropriate place to focus on and that improvements in this area would provide the greatest benefit to the local community.
We then decided our main focus would be enhancing the pit tub, making it a proper feature, whilst creating a welcoming space for residents to sit, relax, and ‘watch the world go by’.
Fast forward through the Summer and into the New Year, and as you will now see, most of the work has now been done, with only a few more improvements and finishing touches to make.
What are the finishing touches – I hear you ask?
Well, around the pit tub area, we have planted various bulbs, so come spring, we should see a burst of flowers. There will be some planters placed around the area, and again, these will be filled with beautiful flowers. There are plans to repair and give the seats a lick of paint so the area feels like a fresh and inviting place for you to sit.
A thank you to those involved!
The Parish Council would like to convey their thanks to: NJ Kearton for the excellent stonework; the County Councillors (at the time), Emma Waldock and Simon Wilson, for providing half of the funding required to make this project possible; and to the volunteers, without them, these projects simply would not happen.
If you would like to volunteer for future projects, please do get in touch – we always welcome your support, and it makes such a difference. Please email the clerk at clerk@sacristonparishcouncil.gov.uk
