Data Transparency

Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities

The Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities came into effect on 1 April 2015. It applies to parish and town councils with an annual turnover of £25,000 or less.

This code requires councils to publish key financial and administrative information online so it is easily accessible to the public. Its purpose is to give taxpayers a clear understanding of how the council operates, spends money, and makes decisions, helping to strengthen local accountability.

Information we publish

In line with the Transparency Code, we make the following information available on our website:

  • All items of expenditure over £100

  • End-of-year accounts

  • Annual governance statement

  • Internal audit report

  • List of councillor responsibilities

  • Details of public land and building assets

  • Minutes, agendas, and papers from formal meetings

Freedom of Information – Publication Scheme

Parish councils in England and Wales are required, under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, to adopt a Model Publication Scheme approved by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

This scheme commits the council to proactively publish key information so it is easily accessible to the public, helping to promote openness and transparency.
